Facebook ProWebSurfer Application

Good news on the Facebook application. Since we launched this application, we have had great feedback, incluidng the comment - “this ROCKS” from one satisfied user.

The ProWebSurfer Facebook app allows you to see your Facebook friends everywhere you go on the web. I use it to shuffle through my friends when I am looking at the NY Times, Finance and Technology news, and my email. Its great: people I would not normally think of crop up in my page and I link to see what they’re up to. It really integrates my Facebook experience with the rest of my life on the web. Very cool.

Facebook Friends and ProWebSurfer

Several weeks ago we at ProWebSurfer launched a new application on Facebook. We did not announce this, as we wanted to do more testing, but now we can announce its now ready!

If you use Facebook, the ProWebSurfer Facebook application is amazing. We replace ads in your browser with pictures of your Facebook friends, and when you click on the friend’s image we will take you into Facebook to check on their status. Its like shuffle for Facebook. I use it all the time, and find it takes me back to the people I matter all the time. Try it now.

iPod Winner Jessica

Congratulations to our contest winner Jessica of Calgary, Canada with her album Superheroes.

Jessica is a nursing student and keen on exercising, music, movies, tennis and basketball. She is our new superhero !

Greetings from the ProWebSurfer team. What’s New?

iPod Contest winners. We now have two previous winners of the iPod touch contest. Our next contest closes May 31, so start voting for your favorite albums created in the past 60 days: See our contest page for more details.
Major updates to the ProWebSurfer (version 3.0 - Firefox users) were distributed in April. As we spend more time writing code than marketing, you may have missed this. New features include:

• New “Passive Search” capability, which allows you to enter a search string and ProWebSurfer will use this to find ad replacement content: for example, choose “Ceramic Ferret” as your search term for the PWS Yahoo option, and ads will be replaced by…ceramic ferrets.
• The new passive search allows you to take your searches with you wherever you go on the web.
• New eBay search option – like passive search, use our toolbar to track items you are looking for on eBay. Enter the term in our search box for the “PWS eBay” option, and we will display your desirables as they come up for auction. Cool.
• ProWebSurfer now works with Firefox 3.0.
• New “Mouse Add” feature - allowing you to add images to your albums by right-clicking on images on the web.
• Facebook Friends: for Facebook users, you can now replace ads with images of your Facebook Friends. See who is online, click on their image and see their latest news. Very cool – learn more here.

New Toolbar Version Cool Features

Notice anything new in your toolbar? Version 3.0.1 (Firefox only) adds something really cool - “passive search”.

 

 

 

 

 

Passive Search means you can enter a search string in our toolbar and we will replace ads with links to items relevant to your search. Try it ! The rest of our ad replacement albums are unchanged but we are breaking new ground with our new features and feedback so far is very positive. Enjoy !

Official - iPod Winner at ProWebSurfer

Congratulations to Sharrie W of New York City, who is receiving a new iPod Touch as the winner of our second ProWebSurfer competition. Excellent!Sharrie (banannabluepants) likes going out in her home town of NYC after work - exploring the nightlife, the museums and culture, and DEFINITELY trying out the great restaurants. She also likes to make jewelry whenever she has the spare time, which is hardly ever. Go Sharrie! Also - a special mention to Peter, a UK-based ProWebSurfer who came second in the contest and had the best Valentines Day album - his Roses album became the link I sent to my wife on Valentines Day (Good of him, Cheap of me)…Thanks for participating in the contest and we will start rolling with the next play soon…  

AdTech Announcements

At the upcoming AdTech conference in San Francisco, ProWebSurfer plans to announce major new functionality and services for its free online service.ProWebSurfer currently offers online ad replacement services to tens of thousands of users and has an active community of people creating albums, sharing content and replacing ads.New functions have not yet been confirmed, but Firefox users are likely to add  the ability to view dynamic content to see their Facebook friends in place of ads, and this release may add “Passive Search” capabilities to allow users to replace ads with ads of their choice (useful when you are actually looking to buy or research something).Will keep you posted…
